If you are going to own a home you are taking on a big responsibility. And along with this comes the responsibility of having the right homeowners insurance policy in place. If you don't have this type of coverage you are taking a major risk with a rather large investment. Do you really want to risk your home? The importance of homeowners insurance should not be overrun by the fact that you may be able to get away with not having a policy. There are people who don't have homeowners insurance, and they think they are doing the right thing because they have never had to make a claim. But how long do you want to take this risk?
