What’s the Deal with your Group Health Insurance?

Do you know what is going on with your group health insurance? Are you suspicious that your company may be cutting back on the benefits you receive, or worse yet, telling all employees to find their own coverage? Anytime you receive group health insurance you are at the mercy of your employer. This does not mean that you should pass up this coverage. But it does mean you should realize that your policy is not totally secure. At anytime your employer may decide that they don’t want to offer this benefit, and in turn tell you to find your own coverage. How would this make you feel?

If you don’t know where you stand with your group health insurance you may feel a little bit lost. On one side you may not want to know. If you do it could worry you to death. If you have not heard any grumblings about your group health insurance, and the possibility of it going away, you should keep your fingers crossed that this won’t change. But on the other hand if rumors are swirling it may be time to ask around to get a better idea of where you stand.

It is a great thing to receive group health insurance. You can usually save money while getting all the coverage you need. But before you count on this for the foreseeable future you should get a better idea of whether or not this benefit will always be around.
