Group Health Insurance: Is it always free?

There are benefits of group health insurance, and one of the best is the money you can save. But does this mean that all group health insurance is free? This is not always the case no matter what you have heard. Many people receive free group health insurance, but there are just as many who have to pay some or all of the premium.

The company is the one who sets the price of group health insurance. If you are lucky you will not have to pay a dime. This means that you are more or less getting free health insurance coverage. As you know, this is a big benefit of your job. You should definitely be grateful that you are receiving coverage for free.

Some companies offer group health insurance but ask interested employees to pay for the policy. They may not have to pay the entire premium, but maybe a portion of it. It is not uncommon for a company to pay half and ask the employee to pick up the rest. In this case, the money is taken directly from your paycheck.

All in all, group health insurance is not always free. There are companies that pay the entire premium and those that do not. No matter what, most people agree that receiving group health insurance is better than having to buy on an individual basis. It is usually easier to obtain and pay for a group health insurance policy.
